Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD/District) is pleased to announce the winners of its 14th Water Savvy Landscape Contest, which promotes water efficiency by recognizing residents who have installed beautiful, water saving landscapes. This year’s grand prize winners are David Mark, Kent Galloway, and Sandra Sheen.
Open to all CVWD customers, the 2021 contest kicked-off in January and closed March 31. Each landscape was evaluated based on a set criteria which included overall water use efficiency, appearance, plant selection, and method of irrigation. The winners were formally recognized at the CVWD Board of Directors meeting on August 24, 2021.
“We commend these model residents and thank them for setting great examples on how water efficient landscapes can not only beautify, but benefit our community,” stated CVWD Board President Randall Reed. “CVWD is committed to educating customers on how they can be water-wise and the Landscape Contest is one of the many programs that helps us demonstrate ways to be water efficient.”
Grand prize winners will receive an invitation to participate in CVWD’s Garden Tour in the spring of 2022. All winners receive a yard sign and recognition on the CVWD website and customer newsletter, The Pipeline. Since the kick off of the program in 2007, CVWD has recognized 78 homeowners for their beautiful, water-wise landscapes that feature low water using plants, rock pathways, and efficient irrigation systems.
