CVWD only accepts employment applications for positions that are currently open and listed on our Jobs page. An application must be submitted electronically by clicking the green “Apply” button next to the job posting. Printed, faxed, or emailed applications or resumes will not be accepted nor considered.
Human Resources
No. Resumes will be accepted in addition to, but not in lieu of a District employment application. You may attach documents (resume, cover letter, certifications, transcripts, etc.) to your application after you create an account and begin the application process.
Human Resources
After you submit your application, you will receive an email confirming receipt. After each application is pre-screened for basic qualifications, they are sent to the hiring manager for review. Each application is given careful review and consideration, and this takes time. Since the volume of applications we receive is generally large, the screening process can take several weeks. Once the hiring manager decides who he/she would like to interview, HR will notify all applicants (both those selected and those not selected). The amount of time between the application confirmation email and the notification regarding interview selection is generally 4-6 weeks.
Human Resources
CVWD only accepts applications for open positions that have been posted on our website and for which we are actively recruiting. Applications are not accepted unless the position is open.

Human Resources
The job flyer contains a brief job description, a statement of the duties of the position, a description of the qualifications, experience and education which are required, including licenses, certifications, etc. A filing deadline appears on every job flyer.
Human Resources
Whenever a position becomes available for open recruitment, the Human Resources division issues a job flyer for the position. The job flyer is posted on our website and often in industry-specific publications like BC Water Jobs. Check our website often for new postings, or sign up for Job Alerts (free text and/or email notifications) through Notify Me.
Please notify Human Resources immediately at (909) 987-2591 or HR@cvwdwater.com. We will make the necessary changes to your records. If we are unable to contact you because you have moved or changed your phone number, your name may be withdrawn from further consideration.
Human Resources
No. You must submit a separate application for each position in which you are interested. However, once you have created an account, your personal information, education, etc. will be pre-filled in the application system.
Human Resources
When this deadline-free approach is indicated on the job flyer, it means that the position will close without notice once a sufficient number of applications from qualified individuals have been received.
Human Resources
If the job flyer indicates a date on which applications will be first reviewed, it means that we will consider the first “batch” of applications received before any others. We will continue to accept applications after the first review date, but if we receive a sufficient number of applications from qualified individuals in that first “batch” we will close the position immediately and without giving consideration to those received after the first review date.
Human Resources
The steps of the selection process can vary, depending upon the position, but the process generally follows this timeline:
• Applications are pre-screened for basic qualifications
• Pre-screened applications are forwarded to the hiring manager for review
• Selected candidates are invited to interview and applicants not selected will be notified
• Selected candidates are invited to return for a second interview
• Final candidate is offered the position, completes pre-employment screening, and meets with the General Manager
Some positions may require applicants to pass a written exam. A performance test may be required for a position requiring certain skills, such as typing or the operation of heavy equipment. Decisions about the selection process are made by the hiring manager and the Human Resources Manager when the position opens. The job flyer will contain details if there are specific requirements to that recruitment’s selection process.
Human Resources
Generally, the interview is conducted by a panel of 1-3 District employees and up to 3 outside panelists (not employed by the District). Often the panelists will come from different departments. During your interview, you will be asked structured and situational questions to help the panelists understand your education and work experience as it relates to the position. The questions are designed to evaluate your qualifications as much as possible in the short amount of time available.
Human Resources
Once we offer a position to a candidate, they must complete a physical, background check, and drug screening. More details about this process is provided at the time of the job offer.
